So sorry to not get to this until now. I haven’t been well connected this weekend.
I have, however, spent the last week seriously considering my priorities, goals, and expectations for my life and career path right now, and have decided to withdraw my Achievement First application.
I cannot emphasize enough how much I love the network, and how valuable I think the growth and community could be if AF extended an offer. The network is inspiring and has already massively shaped my development– just from three observations!
What I’ve come to realize is that although I know to be an excellent teacher I need development and collaboration AF would provide, I’m not ready to leave my current placement yet. With a new vice principal and many grade-wide projects in the works, as well as the leadership I’ve been acquiring in district, I think the impact I can make on Dumas for the 12-13 year could be substantial, and I feel so far my commitment is not yet fulfilled. I know your students at AFBA will ultimately have a talented and passionate teacher regardless of who you choose to hire.
I give you so much detail because if possible, I do not want to rule out AF as a network for me to end up in a little further down the road. I truly think Bridgeport could be a great fit for me, both the school and city, I’m just not ready to give up the south. I also genuinely believe in you as a leader, and am incredibly disappointed to know that were I to reapply I likely won’t have the chance to work with you. (If you come back to the delta, though…)
I want to apologize for the time it took for me to make this decision, and also warmly thank you and the recruiters for being phenomenal people. I would love to hear back about how this decision could affect my consideration (positively or negatively) at AF for the 13-14 school year. Is there a way we can be in contact through this year, or should I just reapply again next winter if I feel ready to leave?
Again, thank you for the time you spent with me during my finalist day, and if you’re still interested in a call or maintaining contact please be in touch.
Thank you, sincerely.
